Thankfully, they are banded with different colors, so that helps
But they have very different dispositions and voices, so it’s easy when I can see them. But when they are both on my shoulder? Couldn’t tell you
Hemi's wings are in... what was the official time that took? Linnies always seem to take so much longer than other species like the Budgerigar. I suspect it is because they molt and come into breeding condition much more often. Hence their "rabbit" status. Budgies every 6-8 weeks cycle in and out and molt in-between. Also easy to identify the times they are in season - the male cere gets ultra blue and shiny, and the hen goes from a light blue/ whitish cere to a reddish brown. Crusty brown cere in the budgie hen is the end of the cycle. Linnies are far more mysterious, and less prolific - hence the rarity.
Our daughter Elena has a little American Budgie that we got from a friend that handfed him 18 months ago but the mom returned him as the daughter wasn't taking care of him. He is a little sweetie! Here is the photo from him right after his disease testing came back clean and we happily brought him into our living space. His wings were clipped a week before and they molted out in record speed. He is a lovely flier and puts himself back in his cage after a handful of laps. His name is Sky and he is a lovely friend for her. She has always wanted a tiny budgie (I don't get that) and we are lucky she got her dream bird. Even her dad enjoys him
I went off topic, but saw an in to talk about something I find interesting (hoping you all may too!) and had a picture of this mark in time to share. I will post some new ones in the budgie section soon. He is looking so fantastic a month in (not this pic, this was 8 days in). Linnies I always found so easy to keep in condition for show..... other species you may plan to take a gorgeous bird to a show, and bang! Molt the week of the show and you have to scratch them.... Another benefit of the Lineolated
- thanks for sharing Sri! (Your username reminds me of siracha - I love that stuff)
