    Vet visits

Found this online: Parts of the Avian Checkup While each doctor has his/her own protocol on what is done during the initial visit, many avian veterinarians recommend some or all of the tests listed below as a screening program to aid in the wellness exam. Some birds exhibiting high anxiety...

    Vet visits

Hello everyone, Our linnie-baby Goose is getting his first vet visit this week. He's almost three years old, but we got him last Feb and we figure it's time. It's also my first experience with an avian vet. What can we expect? What questions should we ask? We want this visit to provide a...

Home decor: Dried flowers and grasses?

Hi, I have probably 100+ houseplants in my house. Some of them are toxic, but none of them are around the cage, and that has been enough deterrent for our linnie. There is only one that Goose has shown any interest in, so we watch him around that one. I think that with dried or live plants you...

    Considerate Linnie Housing

I have a question about the blanket we put over Goose's cage at night- It's a lightly stuffed, industrially quilted blanket we got second hand. It seems great because it's huge and thick and lightly insulated, and blocks the light well. I highly doubt it is made of natural fibers. I've been...

help with excessive vocalization and aggression

Update! We can occasionally get Goose to step up on our fingers to get a treat now!! I'm so proud. He's still very reluctant and tries every other avenue to reach the treat first, though, and also the process seems to include yelling at the fingers before stepping up. We've been really...

    Toys are scary?

Thank you both. Since I posted Goose has made a lot of progress with the calling and a little progress with the toys. I've been trying to lure him onto this boing in the window by my desk for ages, and he finally got on it for a few minutes yesterday (just long enough to eat a seed ball! yum!)...

    Toys are scary?

Does anyone have advice on getting your linnie to interact with new toys and perches? We have a few things that Goose loves to play with, including a perch and foraging toy in his cage, but outside the cage is another story. When I'm working from home he's generally just on my shoulder (or my...

help with excessive vocalization and aggression

Sorry, I should clarify- Karl is my partner, we live together. So the screaming for him is an issue which mostly happens outside the cage when Goose is on my shoulder and Karl walks by or he hears Karl in another room. When he's on Karl's shoulder he's pretty quiet and calm. We have a small...

help with excessive vocalization and aggression

The biggest issue is the calling to Karl, which mostly happens outside the cage when Goose is on my shoulder and Karl walks by or he hears him in another room... When he's on Karl's shoulder he's pretty quiet and calm. My ears hurt.

    Very Toxic foods

Yes, thank you! We're able to keep those away, I'm mostly worried if he happens to take a bite of something on my plate when I'm not looking kind of thing...

    Food Quantities

Another thing that's been on my mind- I have read a lot about what kinds of things to feed Linnies, but how much of it? Our Goose is getting a mix of Linnie Mix, Miracle Meal and a diminishing amount of the ZuPreem pellets he's used to in his food bowl. About 1/2 of a normal spoon of each...

    Cuttlefish bone / mineral blocks

My Linnie, Goose, hasn't touched the cuttlefish bone or the mineral block at all since I've gotten him. They are both in the cage. I changed the cuttlefish bone holder to see if that was the issue, but no dice. I remember the budgies I had as a kid would use the cuttlefish bone a lot, so I...
