    Irises

So I’ve noticed that on one of my boys, he has a very well developed irises; but his brother does not. They are both nearly the same age and are old enough to have developed them. So my question is, is it at all common for a Linnie to not really develop irises? Hemingway Kingston

    Recall Training

So I’m starting to work with Hemi on this now that he actually has his flight feathers. It’s…yeah. He has no interest in flying to me, no matter what treat that I have. When I ask him to, he just Linnie-stares at me 🤣. When I walk over to him, he will gently step up and then fly back to his...

    Hemi & Kingston’s Ongoing Thread

Now that Kingston and Hemingway are living under the same "roof", I'm going to start a new thread for both of them. Here are some inaugural pictures and videos :) The Breakfast Stare-Down The Breakfast Accord Co-Perching Cage Intro Kingston Actually Talking Like a Linnie (I'm sure this will...

    Swings?

Do any of your Linnies use swings? I have one for Hemi in his cage, but he's not terribly enthusiastic. I have another on one of his play-stands...but when he tries it, he falls forward and face-plants. I'm guessing that since they are "horizontal" birds, it isn't their favorite from a balance...

    Cockatiels & Linnies

I'm sure that there are some of you out there that have both species as pets :) How does that generally go? Not housing them together obviously, but their interactions with each other. They seem to be pretty mellow species that "on paper" would get along nicely?

    Baby Kingston

Full brother to Hemingway, and hilariously another Dark Green Greywing. Thankfully they have different color bands :) Originally I was going to name the new one Daquiri, but that’s more of a “blue” Linnie name for me. Kingston is another rum distillery, like Hemi ;) He is the weebit with fewer...

    Sweet Potato

I know that sweet potato is something that’s good for Linnies (and parrots in general), and that it can be cooked a number of different ways. However, my bird seems to really prefer it raw so that he can really get the most out of it. Are there any downsides to offering raw sweet potatoes? He...

    Water

So......my Linnie hates water :) Odd, right? I've tried the following with zero success: Gently misting above him and letting it fall onto him while he's in his cage. Gently misting above him and letting it fall onto him while he's on a nice perch. Using a flat-bottomed colander in a sink and...

    Harness Training

Has anyone harness trained their Linnie? And by that I mean, “Has anyone gotten their Linnie to tolerate a harness so that it will sit on your shoulder and go for a walk outside?” I picked up an appropriately sized Aviator Harness with the intention of trying to get my Linnie used to it for...

    Baby Hemingway

    Vocalizations?

Unsurprisingly, the Internet seems a bit split on this topic :) With most parrots, it seems like the males are the big talkers or whistlers. But with Linnies, it seems like females are also common talkers? I mean both with respect to "out-of-the-box" Linnie vocalizations as well as...

    Second Linnie

Hi everyone, I plan to start with just the single Linnie, but I think that I’d like to add a friend for her in 6-8 months. This would give us a chance to bond first before a new kid was added. I’m fairly sure that (after quarantine) they would be caged separately for a period of time until it...
