Is that the only feeding he was on? If so, 7-10 days after the last should be good to go if the weight is steady. You will want to be sure to cover the grate on the bottom of your cage, it is risky to leave the grate open for when the wee ones fall.... they can get hurt. You must be so excited! Great that you have been able to watch all the fun brooder and weaning cage videos. Makes it more exciting! Have you seen videos of him interacting with the family? Those are always the best! Keep us posted... we are all excited right along with you!

Fledgling
Yep yep, dinner was the last one. I have a gram scale, which he has been taught how to step down onto, so I can keep track of his week for the first couple of weeks after pickup to make sure that he isn’t dropping.

No videos of the interactions (I think that she has her hands full ;)), but I’m defiantly looking forward to pickup.
Lots of paper towels on the bottom grate ;)

If you run the vaccum cleaner for a couple minutes they go crazy for water. It is a great way to get them loving spray baths. This is my favorite sprayer for babies as it is very gentle. Once they are hooked, they tolerate a harder, soaking stream. I like this mister also for a feather that may get out of place during a show that you want them to preen back into place without getting them wet wet as that is bad for judging. https://chirpcentral.com/products/fine-mist-bathing-sprayer?_pos=1&_sid=fde6e6b4a&_ss=r

They are really small birds, so most commercially found foot toys are too big for them. When babies, they are learning to use their feet so seem to use them more. As adults, they love busy toys with lots of beads, crazy straws, things to pick at, but on the cage side near a perch. Foot toys are likely to be used when out with you, when they are cuddling in your hand, laying on their back. In the cage they just drop them on the ground and they get all poopy. lol

I’m dying.
Apparently, Hemi has a favorite toy (a rubber ducky), which will be coming home with us. I have loaded up on foot toys…
These are Toula’s favorite foot toys. She LOVES to toss them off the top of her cage onto the floor. She waits to see how long it takes and how many times mommy will pick them all up. Mommy usually misses a few and she thinks it’s a hoot when I step on one barefoot in the morning before coffee! 😁

So exciting! He looks great! Watch the fresh stuff that isn't high in Vit A. Cucumber basically water. Focus on the red, yellow, orange veggies. Linnies need high protein, so don't go too crazy with fresh. They need room for stuff with fats and protein too. Hey, if you want to work on step ups, wrap your finger in some vet wrap (like this HERE) to provide better grip. Their feet are very funny... flexible but not all that good for perching on wide diameter areas. Australian species have long, slender toes and it is easier for them. I find grip on wider perch places really builds confidence. Keep us posted on how it goes, and when you find a solution for wet poops down your neck when he is all cozy in there.... share! ♥
