Moulting tips?

Love My Linnie

Hatchling
Toula is going through a mild moult and is miserable. 😞 Aside from daily bathing and misting, does anyone have any tips for helping ease her misery? She lets me lightly rub her head, but won’t let me roll the pinies between my fingers. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

To get rid of the pin feather shafts, I like to whittle them in my thumb and pointer finger with my nails on those fingers. I do this after the new feather has emerged enough that it is at least half out, as the shaft helps to push the feather up like a flower. It needs the shaft for that time only. High protein really helps in the diet for building new feathers. Really good soaking baths at least daily helps too. I find the soft cotton perches their favorite to rub their heads on too. Poor Toula! Good news is Linnie's molt sooooo infrequently! My budgie flight during molt times looks like I cut open a down pillow! :ROFLMAO:

I’ve gotten some of mine used to a stiff toothbrush along with more frequent bathing. Helps with the hand shy few.
That is a good tip! Some exhibitors use the toothbrush trick. Helpful to keep fingers away if someone is a little bitey. lol
