Adorable! Congrats on the new addition. Does she like baths? Is she friendly? Thanks for showing us your new jewel!

👋 hi! Thanks for asking!
She is so friendly…. When I saw her at the store she stepped up to me, then clambered up to my shoulder and nibbled my ear…I’m sure she was sweet to everyone, but it felt like she chose me!
She is sweet and affectionate with a great temperament. Of course meeting our other bird lotus has been overwhelming for her.
She loves taking a shower with me, we have shower perches and fake plants in the shower so it’s like a little jungle . Not into bathing yet but I’m going to try the mister.
she Used to get very cross with me if I touched her food bowl, and would bite me quite hard. But she just thinks a scary monster is trying to steal her food. We are working on it with some techniques and she is much better now, but occasionally little dinosaur will come out and roar and chomp. But if you have any magical advice I’d welcome it!

I think she choose you too! There is a thread in here about how to get them to enjoy spray baths. Vacuum cleaner works well to get them in the mood. It is said to mimic a rainstorm. I used to take birds into the shower with me too until I read that the mist of humidity that comes out of showers isn't good for the respiratory system as they inhale contaminants in our water such as lead from old pipes, chlorine, PFAS, or bacteria that was in the shower heads. Not sure if it is try or not, but since they never seemed to get as wet as when I spray them with a bottle.... it seemed they didn't come out as well either.

Oh, I meant to ask and think I didn't yet.... was she DNA sexed?

Aw, Thank you!
She is DNA sexed…
I didn’t realize that about showers… thank you for telling me! My goodness.
I have a filter on mine, do you think that would make a difference? It is supposed to filter out chlorine and heavy metals etc… have you heard anything about that? Maybe it doesn’t make enough of a difference as they are so sensitive?
That’s sad because they seem to love shower time! Maybe I can put them in another part of the bathroom, while I shower, since it’s really big ?
I will read the misting thread. I chuckled when you mentioned the vacuum, as she has always hated the vacuum…. She thinks it’s a big monster that eats her food. She will yell at it, and watch it.., if it starts sucking up millet that’s fallen on the floor, she screams at top decibel! 🤣 such an extreme foodie.
But she does Like rainforest /rain sounds on YouTube.

Filter on the head likely makes it much safer, though I know one aspect of shower head danger is bacteria that builds up in the head. Millions I am sure do it without incident? Next time you run the vacuum, spray her with water... I would be curious if after a few minutes she flips upside down into full on bat bird like these HERE. Don't mind the improper clip on the birds in the video, these were purchased from a breeder in 2014 that was still doing the reverse clip that we know now is not desirable. I added this link because everyone loves looking at Linnies, don't they?

I am so glad that you and Neelu get to spend your lives together. She is lucky she got to go home with you ♥

Thank you so much !
I tried the misting and in the beginning she was a bit wary, but the third or so time, I got a half bat!!!!!! So cute and so satisfying to see !
Especially since my budgie hates hates baths in any form.
I’m sure next time I’ll get the full bat 🦇…
