    pellet/granules debate

Most folks don’t keep their Linnie’s in aviaries like we do and the amount of exercise they get would dictate how much of the fattier seeds they can utilize. If a caged bird is being fed a good varied diet including a good seed mix, then I don’t feel too much millet is warranted. It’s an...

    pellet/granules debate

Personal preference I guess. Uneaten pellets would be wasted when I swap out seed cups each day with the seed hulls. Same with the bird salad.

    pellet/granules debate

I’ve never used those granules. And you’re right, a variety is best. I feed veggie chop with a little fruit daily Along with a good parakeet seed mix either chirp centrals mix or Volkmans. I have Roudybush crumbles available in a separate cup always, along with dried bird salad also from chirp...

    Considerate Linnie Housing

If the temperatures outside are close to what they’re used to inside then it’s ok. But if there’s too much of a temperature drop it’s risky. Linnies can tolerate cooler temperatures but it needs to be done gradually. Like if the birds were already living outside and were exposed to the cooler...

    Taming

It could. The fewer interactions with an untame breeding pair the better. They can react to stress by abandoning eggs or chicks or actually do them harm.

    What colors will babies be?

You can start the calcium a few weeks before setting them up. Add to their water 5 days a week throughout laying and you can stop after any chicks that hatch are a few weeks old. It’s fine for the male to drink from the fortified water as well. 12-14 hours of light is good, temps can vary but...

    Cranky about her cage.

Often times this behavior is hormonal and will pass in a few weeks. if not, it may be due to her protecting her space. You could try letting her out with a treat while you clean the cage.

    Vocalizations?

Yes same with disposition. Very individual among each bird.

    Vocalizations?

In my experience both sexes talk equally well. I have both males and females that love to talk and some that never talk. It’s pretty individual from bird to bird.

    What colors will babies be?

A sf gw d green male x cobalt female can produce sf gw and normal non gw males and females. Colors could include green, d green, and olive. If the male is split to turquoise which most green series are in the US, they could also produce turquoise, cobalt or mauve. If the male is also split to...

    Taming

congratulations on your new Linnies! It’s not impossible to tame linnies that haven’t ever been worked with but it will take time and patience. Interacting with them as much as possible will help them become accustomed to you and start to trust you. Even if it’s just sitting quietly with them...

    Second Linnie

Sounds good. Same sex pairs do very well with linnies and unlike many other parrots, it doesn’t matter if it’s boy/boy or girl/girl. Bot do equally well accounting for individual bird personalities.

    Eight Eggs!

Sounds like you e done the right things so far. Sometimes it takes a while to get them out of breeding mode. Continue the things you’ve been doing and I would also move as much of the things INSIDE the cage as you can to throw them off a bit. Do not put in any budgies with a hormonal Linnie...

Dont feel bad! Glad you got a chance to check. Yes it’s good practice. I don’t recall if you said your male was DNA’d or not. im sorry. you must be disappointed. Hoping for success next time!

    Eight Eggs!

What is the opposite advice you were told? honestly with linnies, it can go either way. I’ve been breeding linnies for over 11 years and I’ve never had a pair abandon a nest because I checked the box daily, or for any reason actually. With a male that young, chances are higher that he will...
